The Lost Art of Conversation Is Found Again

Two mothers at the gym, exercising and talking loudly (one to my right and the other to my left):

Woman 1: "I didn't see Cody in the playpen"
Woman 2: "No, he's there"
Woman 1: "Oh is he? I wasn't looking"

Are you trying to tell us that you go to the gym? Hemph?

Playpens at the gym? That's a new one.

That, my friend, is why one invests in an iPod and noise cancelling headphones.

Falstaff, it's a choice I had to make: my hearing or inane gym chatter. I chose the latter.

Salil, A gym I used to attend years ago even offered MS-Office classes to senior citizens! The one facilty I have yet to see in a gym is a bar. Then our lives will be complete.

Tsk tsk, Disbelieving Neha!

Head by Singapore and the Planet Fitness downtown in Suntec City.

We've got a bar - although admittedly a juice bar (with various pastas/noodles and such on offer). Never eaten there (or drunk there - there's a great wine store a minute away :-)

[Oh, and if you think this sort of talk is bad - imagine the same at my end, but in the local's Chinese-Malay-English slang hybrid now dubbed "Singlish".]
