Is it really that bad? I just advised my tech illiterate parents to make sure their new PC came with Vista pre-installed. I had better call them back before they take the plunge.
MT: IMO, the learning curve is less steep for someone who's not used XP before. But there are lots of (unwanted) bells and whistles in there, so be warned that you will be your parents' unpaid tech support.

Oh, and make sure they have a PC with 2GB RAM.
