Dario Argento's "Suspiria". Cult classic? Over-rated dud?

I love that soundtrack, specially in the opening scene. apart from that a dud...

it is surprising I have read some really deep stuff by serious academics who take him very very seriously. something about postmodernism and self-reflexivity etc etc..

The soundtrack is clever in parts, sure. After a while, it becomes a major distraction.

There are a few other things I enjoy about Suspiria. But the expository dialogue is almost embarassing. Or maybe horror films need exposition.

I think I have to see it. When you read so much about a film, it seems bigger than it could actually be :)
