Underground Music

"Noting that the 12th rescued miner, Edison Peña, was the Presley fan, the anchor announced, “Edison Peña, this is for you!” and proceeded to play “Jailhouse Rock.”
Woah, CNN, epic fail once again.

The most appropriate Elvis song for the occasion would have been - wait for it - Way Down. (Playing Elvis's "Mine" would have been *too* on the nose).

I would have thought, given the circumstances, Suspicious Minds.

If some bluegrass singer hasn't already penned it, I'd say "Coal Miner's Mistress" would be a hit song in Chile.

Maybe 'a little less conversation please' for CNN. Was there nothing else happening in the world all day?

MT: It's CNN. There *is* nothing else happening in the world all day.

A bit late, but worth mentioning: you might have heard this dig too, on the miners, that they are all on TV now and have become mainstream, loved them when they were underground. ;)
