WFS: No, it wasn't very good. It was your basic junior school introduction to Buddha's story.
It took them 2 hours to tell the story and was filled with nearly every cliche that we associate with a documentary film set in India/Asia.
I'm not particularly motivated to blog about the film, but if you wanted just hagiography and visuals, you could go read the Amar Chitra Katha edition of the same story.

Is this a recent film? I found this one, which appears to be a BBC programme.
Feanor: It premiered just the other day...
It was OK. Reminded me of Moral Science class. A junior school lesson would probably be the best way to talk about Buddhism to this audience.
