Lekhni: Great question. I am aware that Kapil's situation (crying on TV) had a different context.

What is of interest is whether the image of a man crying means different things to different cultures.

When Kapil cried, was that seen as a sign of strength and confidence or as a sign of weakness (or even admission of guilt)?
