Werner Herzog's Rogue Film School

Werner Herzog has announced the launching of a film school, named the "Rogue Film School". This excerpt from the school's charter:
Related, but more practical subjects, will be the art of lockpicking. Traveling on foot. The exhilaration of being shot at unsuccessfully. The athletic side of filmmaking. The creation of your own shooting permits. The neutralization of bureaucracy. Guerrilla tactics. Self reliance.

Censorship will be enforced. There will be no talk of shamans, of yoga classes, nutritional values, herbal teas, discovering your Boundaries, and Inner Growth.
Rogue Film School.

How can you not hero-worship this man?

BM: he does promise this: "the exhilaration of being shot at unsuccessfully." (I suppose you know what incident he is referring to?) But damn, I wish I could sign up, if only to say I once sat in a class taught by WH.

km: sadly the only bits I have seen of his work are on YT -Fitzcarraldo. So I doubt I got any reference. :(

BM: well, here the video in question. (A real clip of WH getting shot - unsuccessfully. His reaction is priceless.)

Szer: The comments in that link were fun to read :) The public's adulation is something else.

I read ONTD only for the comments. It's the BEST.

km: only if chaplin makes it.

Space bar: Chaplin's shoe was made of licorice. Herzog ate a *real* shoe. (Though Chaplin's scene was funnier, Herzog's was more, ahem, heroic.)

i know, i know. this is why - hero worship or no - he can be the hero. i will settle for comedy and licorice.
