Let A Billion Dogs Bloom

China now has a one-dog-per-family policy.
In selected areas, large dogs, such as doberman and labradors, will be prohibited.
I bet members of the Chihuahuas and Pomeranians lobby in Beijing are high-fiving each other.

But some Chinese don't think this is such a good idea.
"It is wrong to consider dogs as a threat to human beings. There are no evil dogs, only bad masters," said Meng Xiaoshe, editor of the Dog Daily website.
Did you hear that? There are no evil dogs, only bad masters. Now there's a powerful allegory for Chinese democracy.

BTW, what happened to that Guns 'n Roses album? Not that I care anymore.

G'NR is dead, my friend. It was a terrible accident and its all very messy. Move along now... nothing to see over here.

Indeed. And the corpse by the roadside reminds me of a warm safe place where as a child I'd hii-ide.

Damn you, 1980s.

does this apply to expats, i wonder. i met a guy from new zealand who has recently moved to china for a couple of years. he has two big dogs that cant ever move back new zealand because there is no dog-disease in nz. but now i'm worried about what will become of them before its time to move back.

this guys also has 3 boys and a set of twins on the way, so am thinking he might be able to justify keeping 2 dogs.

"no evil dogs, only evil masters." thats how it works with child rearing too. :)

Maybe the Chinese government needs to be put on a diet of dog food!

Ghost: then they'd be all bark AND bite. Not a good idea :)

I think the same thing happened to the album that happened to its namesake: It got put on indefinite hold, to be trotted out periodically when diplomacy called for it. Not like hell freezing over, which turned out to be a reference to a specific date in the 1990s.
